Why climbing a Via Ferrata?

Via ferratas open up spectacular mountain terrain that would otherwise remain inaccessible to most people.
They combine the feeling of real climbing with the security of fixed steel cables, ladders and anchors, allowing you to move confidently through exposed rock faces and dramatic landscapes.

Climbing a via ferrata with a guide means more than just safety.
It means choosing the right route for your abilities, moving efficiently and calmly on the rock, understanding the terrain and knowing when to push forward or slow down.

With a guide who also builds and maintains these routes, you gain something extra:
local knowledge, precise judgment and an experience shaped by people who know the line bolt by bolt.

Instead of worrying about logistics or mistakes, you can focus fully on the movement, the views and the experience itself.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is becoming one of the most exciting destinations for via ferrata in Europe. Around Mostar you will find some of the most scenic via ferrata routes in the country, offering everything from beginner friendly to more exposed mountain adventures.

Every route you see here is guided with precision, calm leadership and deep local knowledge.

This is what your experience will look like.

Why Climb With Us

We are not just guides. We are also the builders behind many of the via ferrata routes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially around Mostar, where some of the most beautiful lines in the country are located.

Because we built and maintain many of these routes ourselves, we know every anchor, every section and every detail of the lines we guide. This allows us to move efficiently, choose the right pace and guide you with complete confidence on our guided via ferrata tours.

Our deep connection with these mountains shapes the way we guide. We approach every via ferrata experience in Bosnia and Herzegovina with respect for the terrain and a strong commitment to preserving the natural environment.

Our focus is not on rushing groups, but on creating a calm, controlled and deeply personal via ferrata experience near Mostar, where safety, atmosphere and genuine connection with the mountains come first.

When you climb with us, you are climbing with the people who helped build these routes, know the terrain intimately and guide with precision, responsibility and genuine care.

Bringing modern via ferrata

Many of the via ferratas you climb today did not exist before. We personally equipped routes above Mostar and across Herzegovina, transforming raw rock into safe and unforgettable climbing experiences.

In 2020, we built one of the first via ferratas in the country according to modern EU safety standards. Since then, we have continued developing routes that combine safety, authenticity and wild natural settings.

Turning raw rock into climbing experience

Before these routes existed, this was just untouched vertical terrain. We designed and equipped ferratas that now allow climbers to safely explore places that were previously inaccessible.

Via ferrata Fortica, via ferrata Podružje, via ferrata Hum, via ferrata in Jablanica, via ferrata on Orjen, via ferrata in Trebinje and canyon ferrata passages are part of our work. We have also assisted in developing additional routes across the region.

Built by the people who guide you

Via ferrata development is not just our profession, it is our passion and daily work. We are personally involved in designing, equipping, and maintaining routes, ensuring every detail meets the highest safety standards.

Guided with care, experience and responsibility

We guide every climb personally, ensuring safety, confidence, and a relaxed experience. Our deep knowledge of each route allows us to adapt to your pace and create a truly memorable adventure.

Everything You Need To Know Before Your Via Ferrata Tour

Is via ferrata safe?

Yes. Via ferrata is a very safe activity when guided properly, using certified equipment and correct safety techniques.

All our routes are built according to European safety standards, using stainless steel anchors and certified systems designed specifically for via ferrata climbing.

We provide certified helmets, harnesses, and via ferrata sets with energy absorbers. Equally important is knowing how to use the equipment correctly and how to move safely on the route. Before and during the climb, we guide you step by step and ensure that all safety procedures are followed at all times.

When needed, we also provide additional rope protection for maximum safety and comfort.

As both builders and guides of these routes, we know every anchor point and every section in detail. This allows us to guide you safely, efficiently, and with complete confidence.

Your safety is always our highest priority.

We provide complete certified via ferrata equipment, including:

• climbing harness
• via ferrata set with energy absorber
• helmet
• additional safety sling with locking carabiner for secure resting and positioning
• additional rope safety when necessary

All equipment is certified according to European safety standards and regularly inspected.

The additional safety sling allows safe resting, positioning, and taking photos while securely attached to the route, providing extra comfort and stability during the climb.

For children, we use special full-body harnesses designed for maximum safety and proper fit.

All equipment is professionally fitted and checked before the climb to ensure maximum safety and comfort.

No previous climbing experience is required for most of our via ferrata routes.

Before the climb, we explain everything step by step, including how to use the equipment and how to move safely on the route.

We guide you at your own pace and provide additional safety whenever needed.

Most of our guests are trying via ferrata for the first time.

Our via ferrata experiences are suitable for:

• beginners with no climbing experience
• active individuals
• families with children
• adventure travellers
• anyone looking for a unique outdoor experience

We adapt the pace and guidance to your level, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.

The minimum age depends on the route, as well as the child’s height, strength, and confidence.

As builders of many via ferrata routes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we have designed and adapted sections to be suitable and safe also for younger climbers.

We provide full body harnesses and additional rope safety specifically designed for children.

Many children from 6 years and older successfully complete our family friendly routes.

There is no strict upper age limit. As long as you feel healthy, motivated, and comfortable with movement and heights, via ferrata can be enjoyed at any age.

Safety and comfort are always our priority.

This is very common and completely normal. Many of our guests have little or no experience with height exposure before their first via ferrata.

We guide you step by step, adjust the pace to your comfort level, and provide continuous support throughout the climb.

When needed, we can also provide additional rope safety for extra security and confidence.

Most guests feel comfortable and confident after the first few minutes as they become familiar with the equipment and movement.

However, via ferrata may not be suitable for individuals with severe vertigo or medical conditions that affect balance and mobility. If you are unsure, feel free to contact us and we will help you choose the most appropriate route.

Climbing with a guide significantly increases safety, confidence, and overall enjoyment, especially if it is your first via ferrata experience.

Beyond providing certified equipment and professional guidance, one of the most important roles of a guide is to ensure that the equipment is correctly fitted and used, and that all safety procedures are followed throughout the climb.

Before and during the ascent, we explain everything step by step, including how to properly use the via ferrata set, how to move efficiently, and how to climb safely and confidently.

Throughout the climb, we continuously observe, support, and guide you, helping you build confidence while ensuring safe and correct movement at all times.

What makes our guidance truly unique is that we are not only guides, but also builders of many via ferrata routes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This firsthand knowledge allows us to guide with exceptional confidence, safety and precision.

This level of knowledge allows us to provide a safer, smoother, and more refined experience, allowing you to relax and fully focus on the adventure.

Safety always comes first.

If weather conditions are not safe, we will reschedule the experience or offer an alternative route when possible.

We constantly monitor weather forecasts and make professional decisions to ensure your safety.

We are official mountain guides and active members of the Station of Mountain Guides Mostar (SPV Mostar), operating under the Mountaineering Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We have completed professional training for via ferrata guiding and safety, including specialized training with certified IFMGA mountain guides.

We regularly participate in ongoing safety education and continuously maintain and update our first aid training to ensure the highest level of safety and preparedness.

In addition to guiding, we are also builders of many via ferrata routes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This hands-on experience provides us with a deep technical understanding of safety systems, route construction, and safe movement in vertical terrain.

Our work combines formal training, practical expertise, and continuous professional development to provide a safe, professional, and high-quality experience.

Via ferrata means “iron path” in Italian.

It is a protected climbing route equipped with steel cables, steps, suspension bridges and anchors fixed into the rock, allowing you to safely move through vertical terrain that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Using specialized equipment, you are always securely attached to the steel cable, providing continuous protection throughout the climb.

Via ferrata combines elements of hiking and climbing, making it accessible even to beginners while offering a true mountain and vertical experience.

The earliest protected climbing routes appeared in the Alps in the mid-19th century, particularly in Austria, where fixed cables and iron aids were installed on exposed mountain paths to improve safety for climbers and mountaineers.

However, via ferrata as we know it today was developed during World War I in the Dolomite mountains of Northern Italy. Soldiers needed a safe and efficient way to move through steep and hostile mountain terrain, so they installed steel cables, ladders, and fixed anchors to access difficult sections of the mountains.

These iron routes made it possible to safely cross terrain that would otherwise have been inaccessible or extremely dangerous.

More than 100 years later, via ferrata has evolved into a popular outdoor activity around the world. Modern routes are built according to strict safety standards and allow people to safely experience vertical rock faces, spectacular viewpoints, and mountain environments that were once accessible only to experienced climbers.
